CMYK + White underbase ink for dark coloured materials
We’ve finally taken delivery of our new press and the results are stunning, as you can see. We can now print complicated artwork with tight register (colour alignment) onto dark materials such as black card and royal blue card.
This is a process that’s only been around a short while in terms of digital printing, however it’s been around for decades using traditional screen printing which is by far costlier. The joy with digital printing swing tags comes from the ability to minimal amount of sheets without large setup costs. Each sheet can also be different using variable data also.
Any of our coloured tag products can be printed in CMYK+White, enabling you to really look different to your competitors. No longer do you have to print a flood of colour over a quality board when the quality board is already coloured.
Case Study
We recently printed a job for a client that had a full black print on one side with a red logo and a full solid red on the reverse, also with a logo. When we can to cut the tags on the guillotine, you could clearly see the white edges around the card. Whilst being completely acceptable as a print job, we thought we could do one better.
We would print just the red logo with white under-base ink onto a smooth black card, then print the solid red onto the reverse, also with a white under-base. This would give the swing tag a completely dark appearance which is in-keeping with the brand, no white edges on show.
We could eventually go further again and print the reverse on a red sheet of card, then glue the red sheet of card to the black card creating a double thickness duplex swing tag with a red/black striped edge.
